You've found Father McKenzie. But are you really looking for Eleanor Rigby?

"You fundoes are ignorant, fearful people, and what's more, you vilify and stereotype whole religious groups!"

"Why vilification is such a blight: Fear and ignorance drive those opposing the vilification laws, writes Helen Skoze", Melbourne Age (23 June 2005)

Tom Lehrer's already covered this ground, forty years ago...

"There are some people in this world who are intolerant of others... and I HATE PEOPLE LIKE THAT!"

Maybe that could go on Victoria's licence plates as the state slogan.

Tom

Reminds me of the classic line delivered by Michael Caine in Goldmember:

"Gold member, there are only two types of people I hate: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures - and the Dutch."

Now, if Mike Myers has the insight to produce irony like that, your average Girl Friday Melbourne Age journo should be able to do just a little better.

Of course I am ignorant and fearful! I hate registering for news sites because I am fearful of what they will do! Nevertheless, any article that can cause Tom Lehrer to be remembered can't be all THAT bad!

Oh well, I have got to go back and get to work on stereotyping and vilifying some more whole religious groups. Any one get the talking points memo for the target for today? I seem to have misplaced mine. Hard to stay in lockstep and know who to go after without the memo....
