I had, sadly, to this moment never heard of that Bez. Random snippets, but not all, of UK pop culture reaches the Antipodes - eg I know all about Ali G, Posh 'n' Becks, etc, and Ralph Balls or whoever the Labour leader is, but if you'd asked me "Who is Jon Cruddas?" my best guess would have been "Err, wasn't he Dr Manhattan in the 'Watchmen' movie".
